A Traditional Dutch Apple Pie…… Appeltaart….

Beautiful short clip of our dear friend Marianne, sharing her family recipe for the traditional Dutch apple pie "Appeltaart" with her son... Enjoy and may we share......... we tried the pie, totally delicious!! Thank you for sharing.....

300 Grams Plump yellow sultanas

500 Grams Self raising flour

2 Medium Eggs

300 Grams Butter

1 Pinch Salt

175 Grams Soft brown sugar

1 Large Lemon

2 Kg Apples

75 Grams Soft brown sugar

6 tsp Cinnamon

1 Scattering Icing sugar


Apple pie is a national pride of the Netherlands. Recipes are often passed on from generation to generation,as we witness in this magical short clip. So give it a go, this is a generous recipe ideal for a beautiful family celebration. Enjoy (we did!)

Dutch apple pie ….

Here is the Secret Ingredient list from the video.

For the pastry  1 Egg, 200g  Plain Flour,  150g Butter,  100g Caster Sugar,  Pinch Salt,

For the Pie filling  50g Currants,  50g  Raisins,  5 Rather large Cooking Apples,   4 tbsp Brown Sugar,  A few good shakes of,  Cinnamon, Mixed Spice and Cloves,  1 tbsp Plain Flour.... and a 22cm Springformed Tin to bake it all in  🙂
